Parkover at Pyes Pa

Over twenty BOP Naturists spent a wonderful weekend at Pyes Pa. Most stayed overnight in their campervans, with a few popping in for the day.
The weather was great, the silly games a lot of fun and the happy hour, followed by a BBQ left everyone well fed and watered. After dinner, a quiz was held as we all sat around the fire. On Sunday, Ray's treasure hunt had us all thinking outside the square.
It was a very relaxing weekend and everyone who was there wants to know when the next one will be. Watch this space!
The day after our campout, 38 of the group attended another successful night at Oropi hot pools.
Col and I want to wish all BOP Naturists a very happy Christmas and healthy New Year. See you in 2011.

NZNF Supporters at Katikati Naturist Park

The Supporters get-together at Katikati Naturist Park was well attended by Supporter members from as far away as Kaitaia and Cromwell and as well as BOP Naturists. Mind you, most of the Supporter members there were also BOP Naturists and if they weren’t before, they are now! The weather looked ominous to start with, so we concentrated on indoor games, but as it turned out, it was even warm enough for me to have a swim (and that doesn’t happen very often in a pool under 32oC)! In fact, when Col saw me in the pool he said “What are you doing in there!” Col did a great job organising the events and cooking the catered breakfast, and my quiz had a few scratching their heads. We played table tennis, draughts, chess, frisbee golf and pool (eight ball variety). The kids played frisbee golf, said the treasure hunt was ‘awesome’ and wrote some great poems about their weekend at Katikati. The pool and spa were well used and all in all, the weekend was a great success

BOP Sun Club Labour Weekend Extravaganza

The next event attended by BOP Naturists was the Labour Weekend Extravaganza at BOP Sun Club. The ‘Guess who’s coming to dinner’ evening on the Saturday night was a huge success with over 30 enjoying the 3 course meal, catered for by the BOPSC members. We had Snow White and Sleepy the dwarf, the Mad Hatter, Little Red Riding Hood, Maurice Chevalier, Hugh Hefner and one of his bunny girls plus many more, including Charlie Chaplin and Bob the Builder – pictured left.
A reporter from the Bay of Plenty Times came on Sunday to talk to those present, which resulted in a very positive feature article in the newspaper the following Saturday. We ate and ate all weekend and the sports were a lot of fun. So thanks to BOPSC for being great hosts.

October at Oropi

Forty BOP Naturists spent a warm evening socialising and meeting up with old friends in the thermally heated Oropi Spa Pools. This event has grown in popularity and as summer approaches, we will be hiring the BBQ area as well so we can dine al fresco in the lovely tropical grounds.

Oropi swim night

Wow - what a wonderful time 30 of us had at the Oropi Spa complex on our first visit there. Considering the weather in the rest of the country, we were very lucky to only have the odd shower with occasional very strong winds. But this was no real problem as everyone had such a good time socialising in the sheltered pools. Most then sauntered into the cafe in various stages of dress (or undress) for a meal, which was prepared by the owner, all on her own! The meals were very reasonably priced and very yummy (well mine was and I didn't hear any complaints). Then back in the pool to let the dinner go down. We went home dressed just in our robes and climbed straight into bed still warm and toasty after the soak. Everyone present agreed that this venue is really worth supporting and we all look forward to the next one on October 18th, which will be in daylight saving time, a month later and hopefully good enough weather to have a BBQ if we want to.

September get-together

Once again, there was a good turnout of Bay of Plenty Naturists at the latest get-together at the CCS pool and dinner afterwards, with naturists from as far away as Wellington and Hawke’s Bay joining us this time. The pool was warm and even when the rain came, spirits weren’t dampened. One thing that amazed me at this gathering was the number of people who met up with friends they hadn’t seen for years and the level of conversation that was going on had me rethinking my comment to CCS that we are a quiet group! It was a really good night, with many not wanting to get out of the warm pool to get dressed for dinner (maybe the cold water falling from the sky had something to do with it)!

Wind Down in the Waikato

We certainly did ‘Wind Down in the Waikato’ in style. The swim was warm, the meal was wonderful and the welcome at Waikato Outdoor Society was WOW – most welcoming! It is nice that a naturist club saw fit to invite the members of BOP Naturists to stay the night to save those from over the hill having to drive home after the meal. It gave those who are not members of a naturist club an idea of what facilities they have and what they are about. Thanks WOS for a great time. The next get-together will be back in the Bay on 28th August.

June swim night in Tauranga

What a great turnout we had for our June get-together with 28 of the group enjoying a ‘soak and socialise’ at the swim school pool in Tauranga. The calm, (though a little cool) cloudless night was ideal, and the full moon added to the ambience of the evening. The Chinese smorgasbord afterwards was the best meal I have had for a while and I know that the others present would agree. I am sure we all went away with full tummies and those that didn’t only have themselves to blame as there was so much food. The choice was amazing, all the way down to the oysters!
The next event will be in the Waikato on July 24th. For more information email bopnaturists@gmail.com.

May get-together

It was great to see seventeen members from Paeroa to Edgecumbe come along to the first get-together of BOP Naturists. We hired two open-air private spa pools at Fernland Spa and on the crystal clear night, could easily see the Southern Cross high above us – magic! Fourteen of us then enjoyed a Chinese smorgasbord. Everyone enjoyed their first social outing and are looking forward to the next one. Everyone agreed that it was good to mix with members of BOPSC, WOS, Nudvan, Rotota, Supporters and Free Beaches NZ who all enjoyed socialising together outside their club grounds.
